Campus Headlines from the ExponentFraternity put on probation until DecemberPurdue officials on Wednesday announced that Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity has been placed on probation for violating University regulations and Interfraternity Council Risk Management policies.
A University investigation concluded that Delta Sigma Phi hosted an unregistered party in April where alcohol was served to minors.
Fire at Delta Zeta sorority, no injuriesFire and smoke damaged the northwest corner of Delta Zeta sorority before 7 a.m. this morning.
James Heisel, deputy chief of Purdue Fire Department, said in a press release that residents in the first-floor room where the fire had apparently started, reported seeing flames behind a futon. All 95 residents were evacuated safely with only one female resident being treated for smoke inhalation.
Purdue police were notified immediately and arrived on scene within one minute. The fire was extinguished but the estimated damage to the sorority house was about $25,000 to $50,000.
Purdue Ranked Among Top UniversitiesAccording to U.S. News & World Report, Purdue is 18th ammong public universities and 56th among all universities.
These rankings are up from 22nd among public and 61st overall rankings issued last year.
